Olympic cyclist Bryan Steel launches East Midlands race team

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="69" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]The Godfrey Bikewear Race Team, led by captain Ross Lamb, from Mansfield, and made up of Nottingham racer Corey Ashley, 20, Beeston cycling duo David Ogg, 22, and Pierre Vernie, 20, were unveiled at Derby Arena this afternoon (March 1). They will be backed by a whole range of sponsors, including Vision Express, who Steel has been in negotiations with for nearly three years, as all parties began to develop an idea to help create a pathway for local riders to compete at the top. Vision Express teams up with Olympian Bryan Steel to find cycling stars of the future

Olympic cycling medallist Bryan Steel is being backed by Vision Express to launch a new racing team hoping to find the next Mark Cavendish or Bradley Wiggins. The unique initiative is being supported by the optical retailer as well as the all-British cycling apparel manufacturer Godfrey Bikewear, both headquartered in Nottingham. Four of the East Midlands’ hottest young riding prospects have been selected as the first recruits to join the Bryan Steel Academy, which will compete as the Godfrey Bikewear Race Team with Vision Express. Road captain is Ross Lamb, aged 20, from Mansfield – a former Notts County and Mansfield Town apprentice who switched from football to cycling on doctor’s advice following injury, then won his first ever race.
